The Shipyard is a level 1 factory capable of producing a small array of basic naval units, and is available to both CORE and ARM factions. As would seem obvious from its name, Shipyards can only produce units able to traverse water and thus they themselves can only be built on water tiles of a certain depth, but do allow passageway from all four cardinal directions when they are open and not constructing a unit. Like the other three T1 factories that can be built by the Commander, a completed Shipyard will increase metal and energy storage by 100 a piece, but a trait unique to the Shipyard is the ability for each one to passively generate +0.5 metal per second with no drawbacks, possibly due to the relatively higher expense of naval units compared to land units and the difficulty in generating additional metal on island maps prior to the introduction of Floating Metal Makers.
